The Fairfield Art Association has two exciting events coming up in early June, bringing new artwork and a community-wide celebration of America’s 250th anniversary to downtown Fairfield.
First, the FAA is adding “A Practice in Shape,” a blown glass works exhibition by artisan Samantha Treankler, to the current Main Gallery wall exhibit by the Iowa Art Quilters and Fiber Artists at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center. Treankler is an apprentice to artist Tim Blair at Bloom and Bark Glass Blowing in Keosauqua, Iowa. The show opens Friday, June 5th, with an artist reception from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the Main Gallery.
The following day, the FAA’s Summer Art Installation — titled “Firecracker” — opens June 6th as part of the broader celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. The installation features 20 art creations by local artists and groups displayed downtown around the square and up Main Street for the summer. Hickenbottom Inc donated the PVC pipes used for the project.
Contributing artists include Shelley Urban and her father Tom, Phoebe Fiedler, Mike Pech, Suzan Kessel, an FHS Art Student, Chaz Alley, Mendy McAdams and Hayden, Claire Reid, Connie Boyer, Jeanne Skopin, Gigi Gifts and Signs, Chuck and Terri Drobny, Victoria Rose, Ashley Worley and First Baptist Church, and Colin Faulkner. Several artists are contributing to two pipes each.
