Independent candidate Dave Bushaw is set to officially file the paperwork needed to appear on Iowa’s November 2026 election ballot for the state’s 2nd Congressional District.
Bushaw’s campaign announced it will submit the required ballot access documents Monday morning at the Iowa Secretary of State’s office inside the Lucas Building in Des Moines. Following the filing, the campaign plans to hold a press conference in the Iowa Capitol Rotunda.
The ballot access submission is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, June 1, at the Lucas Building, located at 321 E. 12th St. in Des Moines. The press conference will follow at 11 a.m. inside the Iowa State Capitol Rotunda at 1007 E. Grand Ave.

Bushaw, a lifelong Iowan from West Union, is running as an independent candidate for Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District. According to his campaign, Bushaw is one of the youngest self-made first-generation farmland owners in the country and has worked as a folk and labor musician, community organizer, and former Midwest operations lead for United Today, Stronger Tomorrow.
His campaign says he is focused on advocating for rural communities and working-class Iowans.
