After trailing 4-0, Davis County baseball scored seven runs in the sixth inning to rally past Woodward-Granger 8-6 on Wednesday night in Granger.

Trailing 4-1, three straight walks set the table for the Mustangs in the sixth frame. An error brought in a run then Hudson Humphrey drew a bases loaded walk to make the score 4-3.

Peyton Schooley, who was 3-4 at the plate, drilled a double to the gap in right center field to clear the bases to put the Mustangs up 6-4, their first lead of the game. Noah Sizemore wrapped up the scoring with a two-run single.

Clayton Noah only allowed one unearned run through the first five innings for Woodward-Granger. He exited the game after a pair of walks in the sixth. Noah struck out nine and walked five.

The Hawks opened the scoring in the third inning. Two runs scored on a pair of Mustang errors. The big blow was a two-run blast by Noah over the center field wall to make it 4-0. Noah was 3-4 at the plate with three RBI.

Sizemore scored Davis County’s first run after he reached on a fielder’s choice and later scored on a passed ball in the fourth inning.

Josh Settles was the winning pitcher after nearly going the distance but departing with two outs in the seventh. Settles allowed six runs (three earned) with one walk and seven strikeouts.

The Mustangs improved to 2-0 on the season. Davis County will open South Central Conference play with a doubleheader at home versus Cardinal on Tuesday.

• Davis County defeated Keokuk 9-2 to open the season on Tuesday.
• Schooley is 5-9 with four RBI. He was the winning pitcher of the season opener after allowing one run and striking out 10 over six innings.
• Sizemore was 3-7 in the first two games with a team-leading five RBI.
• Davis County drew six walks against Keokuk on Tuesday, followed by eight on Wednesday at Woodward-Granger.
