Area Schools Set for Iowa State Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium May 21-23

Van Buren County's Lincoln Bainbridge will race in four events for the Warriors as he looks to end his final high school year on the highest note.

Several area schools will be represented at the Iowa State Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines this week, with competition running Thursday through Saturday, May 21-23. The meet features athletes from Class 1A through Class 4A, with some competitors looking to defend state titles they have already won, others looking to reclaim hardware from previous seasons, and others chasing their first.

Area schools competing include Van Buren County, Pekin, Sigourney, and Keota in Class 1A; Albia, Centerville, EBF, Cardinal, and Davis County in Class 2A; Fairfield and Oskaloosa in Class 3A; and Ottumwa in Class 4A.

Below is a full breakdown of schedules and competitors by school.

CLASS 1A

Van Buren County

The Warriors enter the state meet with one of the largest contingents of any area school, with multiple automatic qualifiers and several at-large bids across both the boys and girls programs.

Pekin

The Panthers bring one of the deepest rosters to Drake Stadium, led by Chloe Glosser, who will compete in three individual events, and Anna Hadley, a three-time state champion in the throws looking to add to her stellar senior season.

The Savages are led by Troy Klett, who qualified in four events at the district meet and enters Drake Stadium as one of the top distance runners in Class 1A. The Yates sisters, Addison and Ellie, will also compete.
