Washington Elementary School in Fairfield was placed on lockdown shortly before 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 23rd, following an unspecified situation at the school, according to a statement from the Fairfield Community School District.
The district said all staff and students responded appropriately, consistent with lockdown procedures the school has practiced. The situation was mitigated and classes were released according to district protocols.
“At this time, all students, staff and immediate community are safe,” the district said, thanking Washington Elementary staff, students, and district leadership for their quick action.
The district did not provide additional details about the nature of the situation that prompted the lockdown.
