A New London Community School District student admitted to writing a bomb threat note that was discovered in a high school classroom Monday, April 6th, prompting an immediate response from school administration and local law enforcement.

According to a statement from Superintendent Chad Wahls, the note was found on the floor of a classroom following a scheduled testing session, after a group of students had already transitioned to their next testing location. Upon being notified, administration immediately contained the group in their current classroom while the situation was assessed. The building was not evacuated.

Local law enforcement and the school’s Resource Officer responded promptly and assisted in the investigation. Within minutes of the note being discovered, a student came forward and admitted to writing it. The student was detained, questioned, and searched by law enforcement and has been sent home indefinitely pending further review.

Wahls said the district takes all matters involving student safety seriously. “We are committed to responding quickly and thoroughly,” Wahls said. “We appreciate the cooperation of our students, staff, and local authorities in helping us address this situation efficiently.”
