A fire broke out in a second-floor apartment, prompting a swift response from local first responders.
On April 18th at approximately 4:23 PM, Ottumwa first responders were dispatched to the 900 block of Sheffield Street for a fire in a second-floor apartment.
Upon arrival, firefighters found flames and heavy smoke coming from the second-floor unit. Fortunately, all occupants were able to evacuate safely.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and all streets in the area have been closed to ensure safety.
