A domestic abuse incident recently prompted a response from local authorities after reports of a physical altercation between two individuals.
On April 11th, around 2:14 PM, the Marion County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the 600 block of S. Attica Road in Knoxville regarding a domestic abuse assault.
Upon arrival, authorities found Katelynn Wooldridge, 32, of Knoxville, had caused bodily injury to the victim during a physical altercation that stemmed from an argument.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim had entered the home where Wooldridge was present, and the dispute centered around property inside. Court documents indicate that Wooldridge initiated the confrontation by shoving the victim in the chest with both hands. Wooldridge admitted to this action. Following the shove, the victim reportedly grabbed Wooldridge’s hair, leading to a mutual fight.
During this altercation, both Wooldridge and the victim were noted to have placed their hands around each other’s necks. The victim sustained visible injuries to her neck.
Authorities determined Wooldridge to be the primary aggressor for initiating the violence by shoving the victim before the mutual fighting occurred, which resulted in the injuries.
Wooldridge was taken into custody and is currently detained at the Marion County Jail on a $1,000 cash/surety bond. A no-contact order was issued on April 12th, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 21st.
Wooldridge faces charges of domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness (1st offense), classified as a serious misdemeanor.
