Both the Keota and Sigourney boys and girls golf programs were in action Thursday, April 16th, with Keota traveling to Colfax Country Club in Colfax and Sigourney competing at Brooklyn Victor Club in Brooklyn.
Keota Boys at Colfax Country Club
The Keota boys won the team title on the par-36 nine-hole course, finishing with a score of 170 ahead of Colfax-Mingo with 181 and Iowa Valley with 195.
Brennan McGuire claimed individual medalist honors with a 38 that included one birdie and one eagle. Porter Cave placed second with a 41 and one birdie. Tucker Sprouse placed seventh with a 45 and one birdie, Aspen Galindo placed eighth with a 46, and Jacob Libe placed 15th with a 53. Jake Morris rounded out the varsity scorecard in 17th with a 54. All individual placements include both varsity and junior varsity competitors in the same combined field. Keegan Clarke led the Keota JV golfers in that field, placing ninth with a 47, followed by Brycen Horras in 20th with a 57 and Gavin Sieren in 23rd with a 71.
Keota Girls at Colfax Country Club
The Keota girls finished second on the par-36 course with a score of 274, behind Iowa Valley’s winning total of 240. Colfax-Mingo and Iowa Valley JV did not have enough players to post an official team score.
Lily Brenner of Colfax-Mingo won individual medalist honors with a 50, followed by Jasmine Slaymaker of Iowa Valley in second with a 53. All individual placements reflect a combined varsity and junior varsity field. Halle Heisdorffer led Keota with a fifth-place finish at 65, followed by Brynn Conrad and Emily Conger who tied for sixth at 67 each. Hadley Cave rounded out the Keota scorecard in 11th with a 75.
Sigourney Boys at Brooklyn Victor Club
The Sigourney boys dominated the competition at Brooklyn Victor Club, winning the team title with a score of 150, 10 over par on the par-35 nine-hole course. HLV-TC finished second with 197 and Belle Plaine third with 239.
Sigourney had two co-medalists on the day. Jordan Tremmel and Josh Wyatt each shot a 36 with one birdie apiece to share first place individually. Solon Yates placed third with a 37, and Landon Conrad and Ike Molyneux each placed fourth with 41s, both recording one birdie. Hayden Bensmiller placed seventh with a 44. All individual placements reflect a combined varsity and junior varsity field. Chase Clarahan led the Sigourney JV golfers in that field, placing eighth with a 45, followed by Dayne Chittick in 14th with a 54 and Christopher McLennan in 16th with a 57.
Sigourney Girls at Brooklyn Victor Club
The Sigourney girls narrowly missed the team title, finishing second with a score of 204, just two strokes behind HLV-TC’s winning total of 202. Belle Plaine was third with 248.
Clara Hanselman of Sigourney shared individual medalist honors with Ashlyn Rhinehart of HLV-TC, both shooting a 49. Ella Bruns placed third with a 50 and Ella Finneran fifth with a 51 and one birdie. Kayla Renner and Adalynne Tremmel tied for eighth with 54s each, and Ellie Ireland rounded out the scorecard in 10th with a 56.
