Jeremy Ray Showalter, 45, of Ottumwa, passed away at 7:29 a.m. April 21, 2026 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
He was born October 31, 1980 in Iowa City to Gregory Allen Sr. and Helen Elizabeth Thomas Showalter.
Growing up in Ottumwa, Jeremy played basketball and was active in Boy Scouts, graduating from Cardinal High School in 1999. He was a journeyman welder for Quality Mechanical and had worked for Overhead Door, 5 years as their manager.
Jeremy enjoyed riding his motorcycle and riding and competing with his BMX bike. He also enjoyed music, playing the guitar, hiking, mushroom hunting and rock hunting. Jeremy was charismatic and kind.
Surviving is his daughter, Kylie Showalter; 2 brothers, Christopher Showalter and Gregory Showalter Jr; half-brother, Taylor Fernholz; nephews and nieces, Ashton, Silas, Trinity and Jade; 3 uncles, Jeff Showalter, Jimmy Showalter and Carl Thomas; 3 aunts, Claudette Barton, Yvonne Showalter and Katie Showalter; and his grandmother, Eva Hickman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an uncle, John Showalter.
His body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 27th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Hendred officiating. The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service.
