Bette Marie Grear, 86, of Ottumwa died at 3:30 p.m. April 21, 2026 at Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa.
She was born June 30, 1939 in Ottumwa to Paul and Marjorie Beck Besco. She married John Richard “Dick” Grear on September 7, 1958 and he preceded her in death on July 4, 2004.
Bette was a 1957 graduate of Ottumwa High School and was a member of Zion Church of God.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking and attending family reunions.
Surviving is her daughter, Michelle Grear of Ottumwa; a son, Michael Grear of Lawrence, KS; and 3 granddaughters, Emily, Katherine and Sophia.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Her body has been cremated.
Graveside services and inurnment will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 25th at Shaul Cemetery with Andrew Estes and her son, Michael Grear officiating.
Memorials may be made to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation or Heartland Humane Society.
