“Normally we put in a little bit of corn on corn every year. We’re flipping all of those acres to soybeans. Profit potential in soybeans looks better, and it’s a little less expensive to put those in the ground too. We’re trying to save some capital here.”
He tells Brownfield that managing expenses is his biggest priority for 2026.
“We didn’t get as much dry fertilizer on in the fall as we’d like. With the run up in fertilizer prices, we’re cutting back rates a little bit. There’s some farms that have high fertility soil tests right now and where we’re going to skip a year, maybe two if we need to, and see what happens.”
