Radio Interview: Adam McCrea

One FFA member says the organization is helping shape his future career choice.

Adam McCrea is currently studying ag systems technology at Iowa State University. He’s also winding down his term serving as Iowa FFA State Secretary. He tells Brownfield his family has always had a background in agriculture.

“I didn’t grow up directly on a farm, but both of my parents grew up in farming,” McCrea said. “My mom grew up on a dairy and I worked a lot with that. I spent a lot of time on a dairy farm in high school, that was a job so I got to milk cows a lot.”

McCrea says his collegiate studies coupled with his involvement in FFA leadership have introduced him to some promising career opportunities.

“This summer I’m interning running a drone sprayer,” he said. “We’ll see where that leads me, and maybe I’ll end up in the precision ag or test engineering side of the farm world.”

McCrea says he grew up just outside of Cedar Rapids and is a graduate of Prairie High School. He’s the son of Tim and Ann McCrea. He has an older sister, Sidney, and an older brother, Jonathan.

McCrea spoke to Brownfield on Monday at the Iowa FFA State Convention in Ames.
