Fairfield’s boys and girls golf programs were both in conference action Thursday, April 16th, with the girls traveling to Elks Fairview Golf Course in Keokuk and the boys competing at Mount Pleasant Golf and Country Club in Mount Pleasant.
Girls at Keokuk
The Fairfield girls finished fifth out of six teams on the wet par-35 nine-hole course, posting a score of +56. Fort Madison won the team title with a +40, followed by Washington with +46, Keokuk with +48, Mount Pleasant with +55, and Burlington with +121. The course presented challenging conditions throughout the round due to the wet playing surface.
Keokuk’s Carrigan Morris won individual medalist honors at +2, followed by Kylie Lumino of Fort Madison and Adalyn Long of Washington tied for second at +4 each. Ella Bentler led Fairfield with a fourth-place individual finish at +9, with Vanessa Kessel placing sixth at +11. Janell Ferguson placed 17th at +16, Aries Wagner 20th at +20, Kate Brecount 22nd at +23, and Kylie Felt rounded out the Fairfield scorecard in 27th at +27.
Boys at Mount Pleasant
The Fairfield boys finished third out of five teams at Mount Pleasant Golf and Country Club on the par-36 nine-hole course, posting a score of +31. Washington won the team title with a +12, followed by Mount Pleasant with +25, Fort Madison with +33, and Keokuk with +36.
Washington’s Rajan Roth won individual medalist honors with a stellar three-under-par 33, finishing at -3. Carson Brown of Washington placed second at +3. Drew Myers led Fairfield with a third-place individual finish at +4. Archer Kreuter placed seventh at +6, Luke Thornton placed 16th at +9, Dain Burkhart placed 21st at +12, Mason Crew placed 24th at +14, and Xavier Kessel rounded out the varsity scorecard in 29th at +20.
In junior varsity action, which was scored separately from the varsity field, Liam Hunter placed sixth at +13 and Quinn Settles placed ninth at +17.
