Fairfield FBLA Sends 17 Students to Nationals After Strong State Performance

Fairfield’s Future Business Leaders of America chapter had an outstanding showing at the State Leadership Conference in Cedar Rapids held March 29th through 31st, with 17 students qualifying for the national competition this summer in San Antonio, Texas.

Students competed across a wide range of business and leadership events, earning placements in the top ten across dozens of categories. Fairfield FBLA Advisor and Fairfield High School Business Teacher Kate Van Pelt said the results reflect the chapter’s growth and dedication.

“Fairfield FBLA had outstanding success at the State Leadership Conference, showcasing the hard work and dedication of its members,” Van Pelt said. “Students competed in a variety of business and leadership events, demonstrating strong skills and professionalism throughout the conference. This achievement highlights the commitment of the chapter and reflects the continued growth and excellence of Fairfield FBLA.”

Leading the way were two first-place finishes. Mareyn Dunkin won Website Design and Caroline Van Pelt took first in Future Business Leader.

Seven second-place finishes followed. Faith Jones, Lauren Martin, and Madison Martin placed second in T-Shirt Design. Dain Burkhart, Spencer McCready, and Aiden McClure Westercamp were second in Sports Management. Aarush Patel placed second in Introduction to Business Procedures, Abraham Antonio in Business Management, and Arissa Pohren earned silver finishes in both Graphic Design and Website Design.

In third place, Caroline Van Pelt added a finish in Career Portfolio, Elliott Ward placed in Introduction to Public Speaking, Faeven Gebremariam in Advertising, and Hank Konczal in Business Law.

Fourth-place finishes went to Emry Dorothy and Olivia Manning in Introduction to Business Presentation, Iris Lane in Retail Management, Valerie Hernandez and Tula Sorflaten in Sales Presentation, and Tara Carter in Public Administration.

Elliott Ward placed fifth in Pin Design, while sixth-place finishes went to Anshal Waychal in Introduction to Public Speaking and Faeven Gebremariam in Journalism. Mareyn Dunkin placed seventh in Pin Design and Kayla Karangi seventh in Business Communications.

Eighth-place finishes were earned by Hank Konczal in Accounting, Iris Lane in Project Management, Emry Dorothy in Introduction to Business Communications, and Spencer McCready in Healthcare Administration. Aiden Holthus, Ben Strickland, and Sawyer McCready rounded out the results with a ninth-place finish in Business Ethics.
