A blanket of dense fog has developed across much of eastern Iowa early this morning, creating hazardous driving conditions in several areas. Visibility has dropped to as low as a quarter mile in some locations, and conditions may change quickly over short distances.
The affected counties include Buchanan, Delaware, Benton, Linn, Jones, Iowa, Johnson, Cedar, Muscatine, Keokuk, Washington, Louisa, Jefferson, and Henry counties. Cities impacted in or near these areas include Independence, Manchester, Vinton, Cedar Rapids, Anamosa, Marengo, Iowa City, Tipton, Muscatine, Sigourney, Washington, Wapello, Fairfield, and Mount Pleasant.
