At approximately 12:00 PM today, the Wapello County Sheriff’s Department, alongside the Ottumwa Police Department, were dispatched to Gateway Drive following a routine traffic stop involving an individual on an ATV.
The suspect refused to stop and led officers on a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended when the ATV came to a stop, prompting a foot chase.
According to Sheriff Don Phillips, one individual has been taken into custody. This incident is currently under investigation, and updates will be provided as they become available from Ottumwa Radio.
