Patricia Ann Hobbs, 47, of Newton, known affectionately as Trisha, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family and cherished friends. She departed this life to be with the Lord after a courageous 11-year battle with kidney cancer. Throughout her illness, Trisha demonstrated remarkable strength and determination, refusing to yield to the disease, proving to everyone around her that she was a resilient and unwavering individual.
She was born on September 2, 1978 in Ottumwa. She was a proud graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1997, marking the commencement of her life’s many chapters. Following high school, she embarked on the path of marriage and motherhood, being blessed with three children, who brought immense joy and meaning to her life. In 2007, her life took a transformative turn when she found her true love and soulmate, later uniting in marriage with her husband, Kory Hobbs, in 2012 at First Pentecostal Assembly of God in Ottumwa. Their love story continued to blossom and in 2015 Trisha and Kory were overjoyed to welcome their daughter, Kennedy, completing their family in the most heartwarming way.
Professionally, Trisha dedicated herself to providing compassionate care. She worked for Mahaska Health Partnership for several years as a Certified Nursing Assistant, offering invaluable in-home healthcare and hospice services, finding profound satisfaction in caring for those in their most vulnerable moments. Her empathetic nature and unwavering dedication allowed her to make a profound difference in the lives of those she cared for, particularly those in hospice care, where she found immense satisfaction and purpose. Trisha and Kory established their home in the serene beauty of rural Jasper County, where she cultivated a deep passion for raising horses, finding solace and connection in their gentle presence.
