The Ottumwa Art Club will host an exhibit to celebrate their 120th anniversary in the Indian Hills Community College art gallery from March 4 through April 1. The club was founded in 1906 for Ottumwa women interested in learning about art. The last club exhibit was held to celebrate the 50th anniversary in 1956.
The exhibit, Ottumwa Art Through the Decades: A Celebration of our Creative Spirit, will feature works from private collections, Indian Hills Community College, and current artists. Ottumwa’s artistic past will be displayed through a variety of mediums, including painting, sculpture, wood carving, and mixed media.
Past and current artists include Marian Gilmore, Leland DeMoss, Mary von Schroeder, Bruce Moore, Richard Dutton, Mark McWhorter, Chris Abigt, Steve Huffman, Jack Rolison, Margie Thurman, and Billy Young. Over 60 artists will be featured in the exhibit.
An opening reception will be held on Wednesday, March 4 from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Indian Hills Gallery. The exhibit will be on display through April 1.
