Authorities in Wapello County investigated a theft at a local residence after reports that items were being taken over time.
The Wapello County Sheriff’s Department investigated a theft at a residence along US 34 East on January 7th at approximately 3:59 p.m.
According to court documents, Megan Johnson, 37, of Ottumwa, was employed at the residence and reportedly took a MZ Wallace bag. Further investigation revealed that over a period of time, Johnson had taken multiple items from the home, including $700 in cash.
Law enforcement reports indicate that Johnson admitted to taking several items from the residence. Following the investigation, the Wapello County Sheriff’s Department requested a warrant for her arrest, which was served on February 25th.
Johnson was held in the Wapello County Jail and later released on a $2,000 cash/surety bond. She is currently facing charges of third-degree theft, classified as an aggravated misdemeanor.
