Main Street Fairfield has announced a new funding opportunity for local businesses through the Main Street Iowa Open 4 Business Grant Program, offering awards of up to $25,000 to support business expansion within the downtown district.
The grant is designed to help businesses grow and strengthen their operations, with eligible expenses including inventory, equipment, marketing, computers, software upgrades, and other investments that contribute directly to business growth. Each applicant is required to provide a 25% match of the total funds requested.
Executive Director Jill Lane encouraged downtown businesses to take advantage of the opportunity. “This is an exciting opportunity for one of our downtown businesses to take the next step in their growth,” Lane said. “We are proud to support entrepreneurs who are investing in Fairfield’s future and contributing to a vibrant Main Street district.”
Interested businesses must first complete a local selection process administered by Main Street Fairfield, which will select one business to move forward to the full state application. The local application deadline is May 14, 2026, with the selected applicant announced no later than June 1, 2026.
The selected business will receive technical assistance from Main Street Fairfield to complete the full grant application to Main Street Iowa. As part of that final application, the business must submit a three-minute video pitch outlining how the grant funds will be used—and Main Street Fairfield will provide hands-on support in creating that video.
Businesses located within the Main Street district are encouraged to apply. Applications and additional details, including eligibility requirements, are available at mainstreetfairfield.org/invest/opportunities.
