Authorities were alerted to potential prostitution activities in a residential area, prompting an investigation. An undercover officer’s interactions with an individual led to the discovery of services being offered for money.
On February 26th, around 12:15 PM, the Ottumwa Police Department responded to a call in the 2000 block of N. Court Street regarding prostitution activities.
According to court documents, Johnnette Williams, 48, of Ottumwa, had posted several ads for prostitution services on an online platform specifically for such activities. An undercover officer contacted Williams and engaged in a conversation where she discussed her rates for various sex acts and agreed to meet the officer in person.
The criminal complaint indicates that Williams offered her services as a partner in a sex act for payment. She was subsequently taken into custody and is currently being held at the Wapello County Jail.
As of now, no bond has been set, and a preliminary hearing has yet to be scheduled. Williams faces charges of prostitution, classified as an aggravated misdemeanor.
