Authorities in Oskaloosa are investigating a reported case of child endangerment after an incident earlier this week resulted in a minor sustaining injuries.
On January 30 at approximately 7:25 p.m., the Oskaloosa Police Department responded to the 1600 block of A Avenue East following a report of child endangerment.
According to law enforcement, Bobbie Porter, 40, of Oskaloosa, physically abused her minor child, resulting in bodily injury. The criminal complaint states that Porter struck the child on the right side of the face and in the lower neck area. As a result, the child sustained redness and bruising to the right cheek, along with redness to the lower neck.
Police report the incident was witnessed by Porter’s mother, who told officers that Porter’s actions went beyond what would be considered typical parental discipline.
Porter was taken into custody and transported to the Mahaska County Jail. She was later released. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for February 4.
Porter is charged with child endangerment resulting in bodily injury, a Class D felony.
