Farmers are urged to prepare equipment now to avoid delays once spring fieldwork begins.
Brevant Seeds retail sales agronomist Alex Case says some growers have probably already started checking machinery.
“Those planters, tending vessels, all those things out and look them over. And not just the bearings, bushings, belts, pulleys, motors, the technology piece right. That’s big in most operations today.”
He tells Brownfield problems with monitors occur frequently when farmers get in the field.
“Planter monitors to sprayer monitors, and those kinds of things. Something’s not working, something needed an update, something needed cleaned out. And I’ve just seen people go through two and three day struggles of getting those types of monitors and things ready as well.”
Case says now is a good time to begin planting preparations by loading variable rate seeding recommendations.
