Authorities are investigating a sexual abuse report that has resulted in an arrest and serious felony charges.
On January 23 at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report of sexual abuse.
According to court filings, Derek Fry, 21, of Batavia, admitted to law enforcement that he intentionally engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim without her consent. Court documents identify the victim as Fry’s cousin. Records state that Fry acknowledged he did not believe the victim wanted to have sexual intercourse.
Fry was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Wapello County Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond. A no-contact order was issued on February 8.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 18. Fry has been charged with Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree, a Class C felony.
