Dorven graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1952. On August 12, 1955, he married the love of his life, Janet Hubbartt and together they built a life filled with love and family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Dorven is survived by his wife, Janet; his son, Craig Bride; and his daughters, Cynthia (Neal) VanHoorn and Regina Walker, all of Ottumwa. He also leaves behind one brother, Doyle (Norma) Bride of Ottumwa; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great pride and joy.

Music was one of Dorven’s greatest passions. He loved country music and played lead guitar, sharing his talent with a band called the Melody Boys as well as with many friends over the years. Music was not just a hobby for Dorven — it was something that brought him happiness and connection.

Dorven worked for John Morrell & Co. and Hormel before retiring from Indian Hills Community College. He also proudly served in the Iowa Army National Guard for several years, a reflection of his strong sense of duty and commitment.

His body has been cremated. A time to celebrate his life may be held at a later date.
