A recent incident involving a burglary and assault has come to the attention of local authorities. The event unfolded when an individual unlawfully entered an apartment, causing damage and stealing food.
On December 18, at approximately 2:30 PM, the Centerville Police Department received a report of a burglary at Apartment #3 on W. Van Buren Street. During the investigation, it was determined that Eric Bulkeley, a 39-year-old resident of Centerville, kicked in the front door of the apartment, causing significant damage. The estimated cost to replace the door is between $400 and $600.
Bulkeley and the victim had previously been in a relationship and lived together until about a month prior to this incident when they separated. According to court documents, Bulkeley had no legal rights to enter the victim’s apartment. On the morning of December 18, he forcibly entered the apartment and stole a bowl of goulash that was left on the stove.
When the victim confronted Bulkeley as he was leaving, he reacted violently by spitting saliva in the victim’s face and throwing the bowl of goulash at them. Following this altercation, an arrest warrant was issued for Bulkeley on January 1. He is currently being held at the Appanoose County Jail on several charges, including assault while participating in a felony (Class D Felony), domestic abuse assault (3rd or subsequent offense) (Class D Felony), burglary in the 3rd degree (Class D Felony), and criminal mischief in the 4th degree (Serious Misdemeanor). A no-contact order has also been put in place, and Bulkeley waived his preliminary hearing.
