A significant investigation has unfolded involving the possession of illicit material concerning a minor.
On August 4th, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into Jason Sparks, 39, of Knoxville, concerning the possession of a nude photograph of a female under the age of 18 on his cell phone.
On August 5th, court filings recorded the execution of a search warrant at Sparks’ residence located in the 1300 block of 188th Place, where officials seized his phone. During the search, authorities observed the image in question on Sparks’ device. Sparks admitted to possessing the photograph and stated that he and the victim had previously been in a relationship.
An arrest warrant was issued for Sparks on December 30th, and he is currently being held at the Marion County Jail with a bond set at $2,000 cash/surety. As of this report, no preliminary hearing has been scheduled. Sparks is charged with the purchase/possession of a depiction of a minor engaged in a sex act, classified as a first-offense aggravated misdemeanor.
