Patricia Ann Smith, 69, of Oskaloosa, formerly of Ottumwa, died January 25, 2026 at her residence.

She was born April 19,1956 in Ottumwa to JoAnn Bennett and James Quinn. Patti married Dennis Smith on January 19, 1974 and he preceded her in death on January 10, 2011.

A 1974 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Patti had worked at Sirloin Stockade for many years as a cashier and server. She moved to Tennessee when the Lund International plant in Ottumwa closed. She worked in sales at CSI in Tennessee, moving back to Iowa in March 2025. Patti also spent several years working with hospice organizations in both Iowa and Tennessee, providing respite care for terminally ill patients.

Patti was a generous and giving person who found her greatest joy in helping others. She loved being a grandma and took an active role in their lives. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Surviving are her children, Kim Smith (Fred Barfield) of Oskaloosa, Julie (Benjamin) Sodey of Kirkwood, MO, Amy Smith of Ottumwa, and Patrick Smith of TN; 8 grandchildren, Jakob Winchester, Landon Winchester, Tanner Smith, Holden Sodey, Isaiah Barfield, Bennett Barfield, Lulu Sodey, and Josiah Smith; siblings, Deborah (Steve) Coleman of Florida, Joe (Renee) Kent of Newton, and Mark Kent of Albia; several Quinn siblings.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Her body has been cremated. A time to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Whatsoever You Do Inc., a non-profit in Wapello County that serves those in need.

Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
