Local law enforcement recently apprehended an individual due to an active warrant for probation violation.
On January 26th at approximately 11:35 PM, the Ottumwa Police Department arrested Michael Lavalley, 38, of Ottumwa, due to an active warrant for violation of probation.
During the encounter, Lavalley did not comply with commands to place his hands behind his back and had to be physically restrained by officers. The officers present were in full marked uniforms and had repeatedly announced their presence prior to making contact.
Lavalley is currently being held at the Wapello County Jail on a $300 cash/surety bond. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for March 10th.
Lavalley is charged with interference with official acts (simple misdemeanor)
