The Ottumwa Police Department responded to a reported domestic disturbance that escalated into a physical assault at a local residence.
On January 28 at approximately 6:36 p.m., the Ottumwa Police Department responded to a report of a domestic abuse assault in the 100 block of Lynnwood Avenue.
According to law enforcement, officers arrived on scene and determined that 46-year-old Bradley Edgington of Ottumwa and the victim were involved in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation. Court records state that Edgington punched the victim in the face and kicked him in the midsection while the victim was on the ground.
Police observed visible injuries to the victim, including bruising on the face and small cuts on the back that were bleeding as a result of the assault.
Edgington and the victim are both adults and are identified as father and son. The two were residing together at the time of the incident.
Criminal complaint records show Edgington has one prior domestic abuse conviction dating back to October 21, 2021.
Edgington is currently being held in the Wapello County Jail on charges of Domestic Abuse Assault, second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor. As of the time this report was written, a preliminary hearing or bond had not yet been set.
