The Specialty Soya and Grains Alliance is now the U.S. Identity Preserved Alliance.

Chair Bryan Severs, who farms in east-central Illinois, says the name change aligns with their product labeling.

“Buyers have been using that in their products overseas, and our sellers here in the U.S. have been tagging their products as they send them overseas with that label.”

He tells Brownfield the alliance represents identity-preserved sellers that market overseas.

“We originally started the organization with more of an emphasis on soybeans, non-GMO specifically. But have grown with people interested in sorghum, dry beans, (and) all sorts of other products.”

Severs says the U.S. Identity Preserved Alliance has members from many Brownfield states, including Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, and South Dakota.
