Michael Jay Duff, 70, of Oskaloosa, died January 3, 2026 at his home.
He was born June 5, 1955 in Mt. Ayr, IA. He married Martha Jane Maxwell May 8, 1999.
Growing up in Des Moines, Mike graduated from Des Moines North High School. He served in the U.S. Army and had been stationed in West Germany. He also served in the Army Reserves and Iowa Army National Guard, for a total of 26 ¾ years of service. He had worked in fabricating for Jim Hughes and as a custodian at Eddyville High School.
Mike was a member of Ottumwa Baptist Temple where he had been active in Bible School and Kings Kids.
Surviving is his wife, Martha; two step-children, Cassandra Lobberecht of Pennsylvania and Casey (Tara) Whitsel of Eddyville; four grandchildren, Kieffer Griego, Adam Lobberecht, Olivia Kirk and Cohen Whitsel; five great grandchildren; eight siblings, Brenda (Dean) Turner, Randy Duff, Paula Turner, Carol Ann (Denny) Van Langgen, Marla Turner, Peggy Hedrick, Bruce Mains and Jonathan (Denise) Mains.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Verladean Hull Mains; two sisters, Kay Johnson and Hazel Flannery; and a son-in-law, David Lobberecht.
Visitation will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 7th at Reece Funeral Home with his family present to greet friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 8th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Travis Decker officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
