Kimberly Lynne Dicks, 67, of Ottumwa, died at 6:11 p.m. January 3, 2026 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
She was born June 23, 1958 in Ottumwa, the daughter of Albert and Edith McMains Puffinbarger.
A 1976 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Kim began working at Cal’s Jack & Jill, where she met her future husband. She married George Mahlon Dicks on March 25, 1978. After her marriage, she stayed home to raise her family and provided in-home day care. Returning to work, she worked in the office at Pamida, and then for Truitt Abstract until August 2015. She then worked for Box & Box Attorneys, retiring in December of 2024, to stay at home and take care of her grandchildren.
Kim enjoyed bowling and volunteering at Heartland Humane Society. She loved spending time with her family, including boating, watching her granddaughters’ softball games and following her husband’s go cart racing. Kim also enjoyed traveling and going on “sister” trips, including to Boston, Alaska and Lake Michigan.
Surviving is her husband, George; their 2 sons, Christopher Mahlon Dicks of Bondurant and Ryan Alexander Dicks of Ottumwa; 2 granddaughters, Bella Macey Dicks and Emberly Blake Dicks; 2 sisters, Dianne Schmitz and Casenda Puffinbarger; a nephew; and 2 nieces, Jon, Jennifer and Sarah.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Randy Lee Puffinbarger.
Her body has been cremated. Visitation with her family present to greet friends will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, January 9th at Reece Funeral Home.
