John Deere is expanding production in the United States.
In a press release, the company says it plans to open two new U.S.-based facilities – a state-of-the-art distribution center near Hebron, Indiana, and a cutting-edge excavator factory in Kernersville, North Carolina.
President Trump praised the announcement during a recent speech in Clive, Iowa.
“John Deere is doing $70 million in factory in North Caroline. Brand new. The best in the world,” Trump said. “And I think it’s going to pay off very, very big, and if it doesn’t, I have nothing to do with it.”
John Deere says the Indiana and North Carolina locations are expected to generate 150 jobs each. John May, chairman and CEO of John Deere, says the investments underscore, “John Deere’s dedication to strengthening the backbone of American industry and supporting local economies.”
John Deere says both facilities are expected to open in the next year.
