The Jefferson County Farm Bureau is welcoming the new year with a special incentive aimed at encouraging new members to get involved in agriculture and rural advocacy.
Throughout the month of January, anyone who joins the Jefferson County Farm Bureau as a new member will be entered into a drawing to win a 2-burner, 22-inch Blackstone griddle. Annual membership dues are $45, and Farm Bureau leaders say the benefits extend far beyond the chance to win a prize.
Membership supports a wide range of local and statewide efforts, including Ag in the Classroom programming, farm safety initiatives, student scholarships, and advocacy work focused on policies that affect farmers and rural families. In 2025 alone, the Jefferson County Farm Bureau awarded $3,000 in scholarships to local high school seniors. Outreach Coordinator Hailey Shultz also reached 875 students through Ag in the Classroom lessons delivered in schools and at the Fairfield Public Library.
Farm Bureau members receive several additional benefits, including a complimentary subscription to The Spokesman or Family Living magazine, access to exclusive events and webinars such as the Young Farmer Conference and Ag Market Outlook, and free exchange ad placement to buy or sell items within the Farm Bureau community. Members can also take advantage of discounts at participating businesses, including Wolfe Eye Clinic, Choice Hotels, Adventureland, Lost Island, Ford, Morton Buildings, and more. Local members are also recognized with appreciation items during Farm Bureau Day at the Jefferson County Fair.
Those interested in joining can sign up online at www.iowafarmbureau.com/join, email Jefferson.County@ifbf.org, or call 641-472-2128. Farm Bureau officials say every membership strengthens agriculture in the county—and in January, it could also come with a new Blackstone griddle.
