On November 29th, at approximately 11:51 a.m., the Knoxville Police Department was dispatched to the 1200 block of Robin Street following a report of a dispute.
Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, who stated that a woman known to her as 42-year-old Tiva Sharks of Knoxville had come to her apartment. According to the victim, Sharks took a snow shovel that had been left outside the door and struck the apartment window with it before leaving with the shovel.
Police reviewed security video from the scene, which confirmed the victim’s account. The footage showed Sharks arriving at the apartment, picking up the shovel, striking the window, and leaving with the item. Audio from the video also captured Sharks yelling about taking the shovel. Officers noted that the window screen had two small holes, with an estimated repair cost of $20.
At approximately 12:06 p.m., Sharks was located as a passenger in a vehicle. Officers recovered the stolen shovel from the backseat. During questioning, Sharks admitted to tapping on the window and taking the shovel, stating that she intended to return it at some point. The snow shovel was estimated to be worth $25.
Sharks was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she remains in custody. She is being held on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. A no-contact order has been issued, prohibiting Sharks from contacting the victim. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 9th.
