The Fairfield High School Dance Team delivered outstanding performances at the Iowa State Dance Team Association (ISDTA) Championships on Friday, December 5th, earning Division I ratings in both Pom and Contemporary categories.
State Competition Results
Competing against teams from across Iowa, the Trojans demonstrated their skill and dedication with top-tier performances in both of their routines, receiving the coveted Division I rating in each category.
The Team
The 2025-2026 Fairfield Dance Team consists of Leigha Ensminger, Carissa Fligg, Hannah Giberson, Teagan Gilchrist, Lexi Megrath (the team’s only senior), Layla Murphy, Addison Qualters, and Saraya Tejada.
Dedication and Hard Work
Head coach Heidi Bowman praised her team’s commitment throughout the preparation process, which began months before the competition.
“I am very proud of the team’s hard work and dedication they put into this year’s state competition routines. These dancers spent time this past summer learning these state routines,” Bowman said. “This team shows up every morning at 6:00 a.m., day after day—pushing through long practices and sore muscles, while also balancing school, work, and everything else in life.”
Coach’s Perspective
Bowman expressed pride in watching her team perform on the state stage.
“Watching this team dance at the state competition was truly inspiring. Their energy and teamwork showed just how much dedication they’ve put into these routines,” Bowman said. “I am very proud to be their coach and am excited to watch them continue to grow this season as they perform for FHS home basketball halftimes.”
The Fairfield Dance Team will continue their season by performing at Fairfield High School home basketball games throughout the winter.
