Egon Rushman, 90, of Ottumwa, died at 12:55 a.m. December 4, 2025 at Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa.
He was born February 21, 1935 in Ottumwa to Bettus Johannco and Alma Johanna Roemer Rushman. He married Patricia Ann Welch June 1, 1957 and she preceded him in death October 22, 2020.
Growing up in Ottumwa, Egon served in the Iowa Army National Guard. He had worked for Harper McIntire and for the City of Ottumwa in maintenance and as a shift operator, retiring as supervisor of maintenance.
Surviving are his twin daughters, Kim (Allen) Jones of Floris and Brenda (Jim) Farnsworth of Elkhorn, NE; two sons, Mark Rushman of Eldon and Jim (Lori) Rushman of Bloomfield; 8 grandchildren, Jason Jones, Mindy Royster, Jeremy Farnsworth, Izahia Rushman, Kinzy Rushman, Brandon Rushman, Josie Lynch, Leah Rushman; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Amy Rushman and Tilda Nelson; and brother, John Rushman.
His body has been cremated. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 6th at Reece Funeral Home with Chaplain Doug McAntire officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion. Inurnment will be in Shaul Cemetery. The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service Saturday.
