The Davis County girls basketball team started off the season 1-1 after splitting its first two games.

On Friday, the Mustangs found themselves trailing by as many as 11 points to EBF in the first half before turning things around in the second half and winning 55-46.

Halle Husted put in a game-high 15 points for the Mustangs while Paylin Lawson added 9 points, all from three-point range, to aid the Mustangs in overcoming a 29-23 halftime deficit.

Saturday saw Davis County dig an even bigger hole at West Burlington.

After a first quarter that had one tie and five lead changes, the Falcons took control of the game and built a 43-19 lead with around 5:30 left in the third quarter.

The Mustangs mounted a furious rally but eventually fell 60-52. Husted once again led Davis County in scoring with 15 points while Mayson Utt chipped in with 11 points.

West Burlington made 11 three-pointers versus the Mustangs. The Falcons were led by Kaylee Webb’s 18 points as they improved to 2-1 on the season.
