The Pekin Panthers girls wrestling team captured third place out of 17 teams at the BGM Tournament on Saturday, November 22nd, with two individual champions leading the way.
Pekin scored 135 points, finishing behind champion EBF with 158 points and runner-up Iowa Valley with 145 points.
Individual Champions
Lexa Nelson (110 pounds) claimed her second tournament championship of the young season, showing resilience in the finals. After being taken down in the final match, Nelson persevered to secure a fall and capture first place.
Hailey Pedrick (145 pounds) dominated her weight class with a flawless performance, not surrendering a single point across three matches en route to the championship.
Additional Medalists
Rylee Frye earned third place at 235 pounds, continuing her strong start to the season.
Bree Earnest (115 pounds) and Lila Miller (130 pounds) both finished fourth in their respective weight classes.
Ivory Small placed fifth at 135 pounds.
Brinley Phillips (145 pounds) and Carly Clubb (190 pounds) each finished sixth.
Reece Brisby (125 pounds) and Ella Rose (155 pounds) both placed seventh.
Alyvia Traner (120 pounds) and Autumn Coleman (125 pounds) finished eighth in their weight classes.
Zoe Heisdorffer also competed at 130 pounds for the Panthers.
Building Momentum
The third-place finish marks Pekin’s second consecutive strong team performance to open the season. The Panthers placed third out of 23 teams at the Sigourney Tournament earlier in the week, demonstrating the program’s depth and consistency.
