The Iowa State Patrol says a pedestrian was struck and killed on Interstate 80 in Poweshiek County early Tuesday morning.
Officials say for an unspecified reason, 36-year-old Nicholas Andres Quintero of Toledo, Ohio was in the westbound number two lane of the highway at 5:11 AM.
The accident report states Quintero was hit by an unknown vehicle and died at the scene. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the person driving the vehicle may not have known they struck a pedestrian.
The accident remains under investigation.
