An Ottumwa woman was arrested for allegedly acting in a violent manner and assaulting a person last week.
38-year-old Ashley Nathaniel was charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a simple misdemeanor.
On November 14th at approximately 7:30 PM, police say Nathaniel was at a residence on the 500 block of North Court Street in Ottumwa and demonstrating violent behavior in a public area. Authorities say Nathaniel admitted to assaulting an individual.
According to court documents, video surveillance showed Nathaniel assaulting the victim while armed with a baseball bat.
Nathaniel was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail. She was later released after posting a $2,000 bond.
Nathaniel has a preliminary hearing scheduled for November 20th.
