The Lord’s Cupboard of Jefferson County has selected Barb Sieren to lead the organization as its new director, bringing extensive community ties and dedication to service to the role.
Sieren, a longtime Jefferson County resident, expressed enthusiasm about the position. “I am honored to serve in this capacity,” she said. “As a long-time supporter of the Lord’s Cupboard, I’m passionate about making a positive impact in our community and continuing the important work of providing food assistance to our neighbors in need.”
Community Connections
Area residents may recognize Sieren from her work at H&R Block, as proprietor of Back to the Basics Farm, or through her participation in the Fairfield Farmers Market. She and her husband Rick have raised two children, Dallas and Gavin, and enjoy time with their three granddaughters, Paisley, Remi, and Brinleigh.
Mission of Service
The Lord’s Cupboard continues its work of combating hunger by providing emergency food support to Jefferson County families experiencing need. The organization relies on local volunteers, community partners, and generous donors to maintain its operations and keep food available for those facing food insecurity.
Services Offered
The organization provides two types of assistance to qualifying residents. A weekly distribution includes bread, milk, and protein items for those meeting TEFAP income requirements. Every three months, eligible households can receive a comprehensive food package containing canned goods, bakery products, meat, milk, and essential non-food items.
Qualification requires proof of Jefferson County residency and meeting TEFAP income standards. Families receiving SNAP benefits or whose children qualify for free or reduced-price school meals are also eligible.
The Lord’s Cupboard is located at 303 N. 4th Street in Fairfield at the corner of 4th and Grimes. Operating hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m., with extended hours on Wednesday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Supporting the Mission
Community members can support the Cupboard by donating unopened, unexpired non-perishable food items and personal care products. High-priority items include canned proteins and vegetables, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, breakfast cereals, paper towels, shampoo, and toothpaste. Donations can be dropped off Monday, Wednesday, or Friday between 1:00 and 3:30 p.m. Fresh produce donations are especially welcomed by families served by the organization.
