The Fairfield girls wrestling team kicked off its 2025-26 season Saturday at the Wilton Tournament, finishing 10th with 60 points in a deep and competitive 17-team field. Bettendorf won the event with 155.5 points, followed by Solon, Iowa City High, Assumption, and host Wilton rounding out the top five.
Despite the large field, Fairfield turned in a strong opening performance highlighted by two individual champions.
Individual Results
Fairfield’s medalists included:
- Samantha Lyons (170) – 1st place
Lyons dominated her bracket, winning all three of her matches without surrendering a single point, showcasing commanding control from start to finish. - Kendra Allison (235) – 1st place
Allison also claimed tournament gold, powering through her weight class to finish the day undefeated. - Aislinn Wise (145) – 5th place
Wise delivered a solid tournament and added key team points with a top-five finish.
Other varsity competitors included:

- Kensley Fligg (120)
In junior varsity action:
- Bekah Zirkle (110) finished 6th.
Coach Miller Pleased with Early Showing
Head Coach Steve Miller said he came away encouraged by what he saw from his roster.
“The first meet went good,” Miller said. “The girls are showing a lot of improvement from last year. They wrestled hard through the entire match.”
Positive Signs for Season Ahead
With two champions, three varsity point-scorers, and competitive efforts across the lineup, Fairfield leaves its season opener with confidence and clear signs of growth as the schedule moves forward. They’ll be competing next in Fort Madison on Monday, December 1st.
