The festive spirit is alive in Ottumwa as the Ottumwa Community School District proudly announces the launch of a delightful new tradition: the Bulldog Holiday Spectacular. Kicking off the day after Thanksgiving and continuing through January 1, 2026, this event invites residents to experience a breathtaking holiday light show that will transform the iconic Ottumwa High School into a dazzling spectacle of color and sound.
The light show will take place every 30 minutes between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM, creating a magical atmosphere for families and friends to gather and celebrate the season. The main building, skywalk, and gymnasium will be beautifully illuminated, synchronized with festive music to enhance the holiday experience.
For those planning to attend, convenient parking options are available along 2nd Street and in nearby lots, offering excellent views of the enchanting displays. Additionally, attendees can tune in to 105.5 FM on their car radios to enjoy a fully immersive audio-visual experience right from their vehicles.
“This new holiday tradition is our way of giving back to the community, spreading joy, and showcasing the historical beauty of Ottumwa High School,” said a district representative. The Bulldog Holiday Spectacular aims to foster community spirit and create lasting memories for all who attend.
In the spirit of giving, attendees are encouraged to support the OCSD Travel Programs, which provide transformative learning experiences for students in grades 6–9. These programs offer hands-on opportunities that go beyond the classroom, fostering curiosity and independence among young learners. Donations can be made directly at the District Office via checks made out to “OCSD Travel Program” or through Venmo at @OCSD_travelprograms. Contributions will help ensure that all students, regardless of financial circumstances, can benefit from these enriching experiences.
