On October 22, 2025, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop involving a blue Chevrolet Impala registered to Victor Wenke of Mount Pleasant, Iowa. The stop was prompted when Wenke failed to respond to emergency lights and sirens from law enforcement.
As the situation unfolded, Wenke eluded officers and led them on a chase through Mount Pleasant. Wenke ultimately abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot towards the Oakland Mills campground. In response, law enforcement quickly established a perimeter around the area to contain the situation, deploying a K9 unit to assist in tracking Wenke.
The K9 successfully located Wenke in a cornfield, where he surrendered and was subsequently taken into custody. Following the incident, Victor Wenke was charged with multiple offenses, including driving while revoked, eluding law enforcement, possession of an open container, possession of drug paraphernalia, interference with official acts, and operating without an ignition interlock.
