The sound of stock car engines will once again fill the air at Iowa Speedway as NASCAR’s top-tier Cup Series is set to return to the short track for the 2026 season. The official announcement confirms a new chapter for the venue, which has rapidly become a premier destination on the national racing calendar.

The Iowa Corn 350 powered by Ethanol is scheduled for Sunday, August 9, 2026. This marks the third consecutive year the Cup Series has committed to the Newton, Iowa, venue. The race weekend will be a major event for the region, with the NASCAR Xfinity Series also scheduled to compete on Saturday, August 8th. However, by next year, NASCAR will rename that event to a new name, the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.

The decision to bring the Cup Series back to Iowa was a straightforward one, driven largely by overwhelming fan support. The sold-out crowds that attended the track’s Cup Series debut in 2024 and its successful return in 2025 demonstrated a powerful demand for top-level motorsport in the heart of the Midwest. This enthusiasm, combined with strong partnerships, including with the Iowa Corn Growers Association, helped secure the track’s place on the future schedule.

For racing enthusiasts across Iowa and surrounding states, the August date is a welcome addition to the summer calendar. The track’s unique D-shaped oval and reputation for delivering close, high-stakes racing has earned it a loyal following. Its inclusion ensures that the region will continue to host one of the most exciting events of the NASCAR season.

The popularity of the race is expected to generate significant economic benefits for the local community, attracting visitors and boosting tourism. Tickets for the upcoming Iowa Corn 350 are expected to be in high demand. According to a news release from the track, current ticket holders have until November 12th to renew their seats for the 2026 race. Any remaining tickets will then become available to the general public on December 2nd.
