A 46-year-old man was arrested for domestic abuse after a physical altercation with his partner, during which both involved admitted to hitting each other.
On October 24, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a physical domestic dispute in the 1700 block of Highway 14, south of Knoxville.
The Marion County Sheriff reported that, when speaking to Michael McAninch, of Knoxville, McAninch admitted that the victim is “crazy,” and that when the victim drinks, she argues and goes nuts.
Court documents state that McAninch explained, after coming home from a party, McAninch did admit raising his fists at the victim but not hitting her.
Law enforcement disclosed that they witnessed a large flushed area on the right side of McAninch’s neck and jawline, as well as on his ear. McAninch also reportedly had blood on his forehead.
Court papers reveal that when officers questioned the victim, she mentioned they were on their way home from a party and that McAninch punched her twice inside the truck.
Police records assert that the victim was sitting in the driveway with her own hair pulled from her head in her hands. The victim indicated that McAninch pulled her hair out.
Officials also noted that the passenger side window had an oily makeup print on the glass. The victim admitted that she had also hit McAninch in the laundry room.
The Sheriff’s Department determined that McAninch was to be arrested and charged for domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness – 1st offense (serious misdemeanor).
The preliminary hearing is set for November 4th, and the bond is set at $1,000 cash/surety.
McAninch is detained at the Marion County Jail.
