Seth Mykel Prunty, 35, of Fairfield, was arrested Friday morning on September 19, 2025, after employees at the Old Foundry Storage building caught him unlawfully entering the facility on surveillance cameras.
According to court records, employees monitoring the business’s surveillance system observed Prunty entering the building without authorization and immediately contacted law enforcement. Officers were able to receive real-time updates from employees watching the live video feed as they responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers quickly established a perimeter around the property. Prunty was located on the east side of the building after exiting through a side door on the west side when police arrived.
The investigation revealed that Prunty had gained access to the storage facility by guessing the passcode that operated the entry door. Video footage provided by the building manager showed Prunty not only entering the building but also attempting to look inside individual storage units.
During a search, officers discovered Prunty was carrying two knives – one folding pocketknife and one fixed blade. His backpack contained bolt cutters and several flashlights, which police identified as burglary tools.
Additional evidence was recovered when officers found drug paraphernalia that Prunty had attempted to conceal under a flatbed trailer as police arrived. The items included a used glass smoking device with white, cloudy, burnt residue and a metal spoon with white crystalline residue.
Prunty has been charged with:
- Attempted Burglary in the First Degree (Class C Felony)
- Possession of Burglar’s Tools (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Simple Misdemeanor)
He was transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility and is being held on a $10,000 bond.
